KREUZVERB Cave, a stereo reverb for DJs

Drag to turn it

Cave. A stereo reverb for your mixer's send. Bright, airy, above the mix. Made in Berlin.

First units after testing; price to follow.

Modular case to match your mixer height.

Two wedges. On its own the top case leans 5° toward you; plugged onto its stand it sits level at 87.6 mm, flush with an Allen & Heath Xone:92. Send into IN, OUT into the return. It plays 100 % wet; the return knob sets how much you hear.

Optimized for the Allen & Heath Xone:92: two Y-cables connect it, stereo jack to two mono jacks.

Shape your own favourite reverb sounds.

Four knobs, no menus. With every knob at 12 o'clock it plays the base sound, a bright hall called Riser. The knobs move away from it. What they show is what plays, from the moment you switch it on.

Turn the knobs on the model, or use the sliders below. The display answers like the real one.

Cave

The room.

Left: tight and close. Right: dense, wide and smeared. The display names it: TIGHT, NEAR, OPEN, DEEP.

OPEN

Tail

How long it rings.

From nothing at the left to 20 seconds at the right, 5 seconds at 12 o'clock. All the way left, a long wash is gone in about 0.2 s.

5.0 s

Light

Dark to airy.

Left: dark and warm. Right: thin, bright and airy. Turning right also takes the bass out of the tail, so it floats over the kick.

50 %

Noise

Fuel for risers.

White noise straight into the reverb, for risers and whooshes. The hall shapes it, LIGHT colours it. Below 3 % it is off.

Freeze

Hold the room.

Tap FREEZE and the tail stands still: nothing new gets in, it just hangs there. Hold it longer than 0.4 s and it freezes only while your finger stays down.

Tap to freeze, hold to freeze while pressed.

The film is being shot in Berlin.
It lands here soon.

Made in Berlin.

The main board, with its processor and audio codec, is designed for KREUZVERB alone, and so is the firmware that computes the reverb. The case is 3D-printed here in Berlin. The signs on the panel are drawn after cave paintings.

Fifteen years of DJing went into which effects and sounds made it onto four knobs.
